He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. William Hugh and Bertha Corbett Thigpen. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Lisa Baker (Kelvin) of Bishopville and David Thigpen (Denise) of Murrells Inlet; his grandchildren, Lauren Griggs (Matt), Abby Baker (John Wells), Lauren Dunman, Kate Thigpen (Tripp Joye) and Collin Dunman; his great grandchild Baby Boy Griggs; and his caregivers, Diane Jones and Kameron Smith.
