He is survived by: his wife Janie Hoffman Mathis; his children, Mason Reese "Chip" Mathis, III (Kristie) of Charleston, Jacob Edward Mathis (Stacy) of Bishopville and Amanda Marie Mathis of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, Samuel Christian Mathis and Sawyer Reid Mathis; and his brother David Mathis.
