He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Caulder and Annie Oxendine Caulder; his granddaughter Cynthia Dawn Caulder; and his siblings, Harmon Caulder, Norman Haston Caulder, Elizabeth Creech, Evadean Chavis and Annie Catherine Bryant.

He is survived by: his sons, William F. Caulder (Patricia Spradley) of Lugoff, Robert Caulder (Janice Truesdale) of Camden and David Caulder (Cindy Boan) of Bethune; his brother Charles Caulder (Shirley) of Clio; and his grandchildren, William Franklin Caulder, Jr. (Jennifer), Jamie Denise Caulder Potteiger (James Edward), Robert Jason Caulder (Stacey), Brandon David Caulder and Abbygail Dawn Caulder. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
