She was predeceased by: her mothers, Willie Hughes VanPatten and Ruby Plunkett Whetstone Hughes; her sisters, Hattie Bess Hughes Ruple and Ruby Jean Hughes Ardis; and her boyfriend Cleveland Willie Davis Sr. Serving.
She is survived by: her son Jonathan Hughes VanPatten of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by several nieces and great-nieces.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 11th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church (229 W Church St, Bishopville, SC 29010).
