He is survived by: his wife Janet Campbell Byers; his children, Liam Byers (Tiffany) of Rutherfordton, NC and Heather Earls (Will) of Blacksburg; his siblings, Scott Byers (Deanna) of Blacksburg and Beverly Greene of Shelby, NC; and his granddaughter Chloe Earls.
