He was predeceased by: his parents, Rob Matthews Sr. and Mary Jane Matthews. He is survived by: his wife Dr. Susan Snow; his son Roger Matthews (Alisha); his grandchildren, Poppy of Darien, GA and Evan of Darien, GA; and his siblings, Rob Matthews Jr. (Joan) of Hardeeville, SC, Mary Alice Johnson (Tom Porter) and Roy Matthews (Patricia) of Eureka, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 8th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sauls Funeral Home (90 Simmonsville Rd, Bluffton, SC 29910). A burial will be held on Monday, June 8th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Beaufort National Cemetery (1601 Boundary St, Beaufort, SC 29902).
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution should do so to the charity of their choosing.
