It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Cohen Whetsell of Bonneau, South Carolina, who passed away on September 4, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dennis Whetsell and Geraldine Sanders Whetsell; his wife Sally Downs Whetsell; and his son Dennis L. Whetsell. He is survived by: his children, Kimberly Whetsell Gaskins (Daryl) of Salters, Christy Whetsell Winningham (Jeff) of Bonneau and Michael David Whetsell of Bonneau Beach; his sister Madeline Jones of Moncks Corner; his grandchildren, Branden Michael Whetsell, Molly Louise Shuler (Fran), Daryl Wayne Gaskins, Jr., Emma Lea Gaskins, Tally Dane Strock, Josh Winningham (Haley) and Jenna Poston (Matthew); his great grandchildren, Camila Contreras, Leyla Benenhaley and Drake Whetsell; and his pet Maggie.
