He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Davis Blalock and Elizabeth Ben-Mildred "Bennie" Sowell; and his brother Charles Blalock. He is survived by: his spouse Beverly Keziah Blalock; his daughters, Elizabeth Duncan (Brett) of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Kelly Crayne of East Augusta, Australia; his grandchildren, Bailey Hall (Shane), Alysia Medera, Joe Crayne, Hunter Crayne and Luke D. Giddings of Bishopville, SC.; his brother Joe Blalock (Rhonda) of Columbia, SC; and his sibling's children, Margaret Blalock, Rachael Gelardi and Davis Blalock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lee County Shared Hope Inc., 202 N. Dennis Ave., Bishopville, SC 29010.

“Alec Blalock was not only our excellent pontoon captain when our group went on diving expeditions with him and his boat, The Megalodon, along the Cooper River, but he was also our friend. Members of our then-active scuba club, Capital Divers, divers from Maryland and Virginia, enjoyed his captivating stories, his great skill in navigating the Cooper River, and his guidance in finding us the best spots to hunt for fossilized shark teeth, fossilized remains, and artifacts. RIP, dear captain!”
