He was predeceased by: his parent Ellis D. Lyell; his daughter Barbara Lynn Lyell; and his siblings, Marjorie Foster, Paul Lyell and Harold Lyell.
He is survived by: his close friend Jean Jeffers; his children, Danny Lyell (Deborah) and Terry Lyell (Billie); his sister Mary Kathryn Warren; his grandchildren, Jessica Norris (Daniel), T. J. Lyell (Katie), Lindsey Lyell and Laurie Lyell (Tony); and his great grandchildren, Easton Norris, Ava Norris, Hudson Norris, Mason Martin and Kaia Martin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
