He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulysses Miller Toms and Mayo Fortune Toms; his wife Emma Adair Toms; and his sister Patricia Toms Cosgrove. He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Wall (Ted Westmoreland) of Camden and Sylvia Toms of Camden; his grandchildren, Jerry Benjamin Wall (Crystal) of Camden and Emily Ann Jones (Nicolas) of Lugoff; his great grandchildren, Kayla Wall, Dylan Jones and Chris Morrow; his niece Barbara Arnista of Connecticut; and his nephew Richard Cosgrove, Jr. of Connecticut.
