He was predeceased by: his parents, Carpenter Carpenter and Rosemary Prendergast Carpenter; and his brother Thomas Michael Carpenter (Cathy). He is survived by: his wife Charlene "Charlie" Jakeman Carpenter of Pawley's Island; his children, John Richard "Rick" Carpenter, Jr. (Denise), Darryl Wayne Carpenter (Margaret) and Lynn Elizabeth Carpenter; and his brother James Milton "Jim" Carpenter (Jeanette). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church (735 Old Lexington Hwy, Chapin, SC 29036). A reception was held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
