Lill Mood wrote a sympathy message

“I came to know Steve when we shared in a Disciple 1 study, and I was privileged to witness the power of forgiveness in his life. Steve was the first to contribute and remained a faithful community volunteer in the Chapin Sequoias Standing Tall student project at Chapin High School. His own sequoia, planted in his yard, is now a magnificent tree with a #36 marker signifying his being the 36th commanding general at Fort Jackson. I am grateful for the life Steve lived among us.”
