It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Adele Wadick Bland in Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Adele had on those she encountered along her journey. Though Adele may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, her essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Kingsland Wadick of New Orleans and Adele Livaudais Wadick of New Orleans; her husband Dr. Robert Purdy Bland, Jr.; and her daughter Lauren Adele. She is survived by: her sons, Robert Purdy Bland III of Atlanta, Myles Curtis Perrin Bland (Susan) and Kingsland Wadick Bland (Rebie); her grandchildren, King of Charleston and Marlee of Charleston; and her brother James Kingsland Wadick III of New Orleans.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louise S. McGehee School of New Orleans or to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
