It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Elizabeth Portner of Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on August 13, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, Barbara shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Barbara farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Betty Portner and Anton Portner; her son-in-law Carl Gentry Jr.; and her sister-in-law Connie Portner. She is survived by: her brother Richard Portner of Charleston, SC; her daughters, Yvonne Schaffer (Chuck) of Charleston, SC and Maria Papier (Ken) of Southern Shores, NC; and her granddaughters, Lucille Gentry of Raleigh, NC, Marisa Gentry of Cullowhee, NC and Carleigh Gentry of Chapel Hill, NC..
