He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Thomas Dougherty and Helen Mary Dooley Dougherty; his brother Kenneth Dougherty; and his significant other Fran Burke. He is survived by: his son Dennis G. Dougherty Jr. (Amy); his grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Elizabeth, Abigail and Violet; and his siblings, Thomas Dougherty and Mary Ellen Monahan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Charleston Animal Society in honor of Doc's love for animals and the companionship he shared with his cat, Baby.
