Dwayne Aaron Bates, age 45 of Charleston South Carolina, formerly of Holliston, MA and Wilmington, MA, passed away after a long battle with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency on May 5th with loved ones at his side.

Dwayne was born on November 23, 1976 in Winchester, MA. He was the youngest of 3 children born to Gerald A Bates, Sr. and the late Ellen H. (Merrill) Bates Mulvaney. Dwayne was raised and graduated from high school in Holliston, MA then attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida where he studied multimedia system design. He later became a Corporate Trainer and a Certified Wine Specialist for the Darden Restaurant Group.

Dwayne was the beloved father of Skye Ellen Bates and loving fiancé to Raven Duckstein of Charleston South Carolina. He was a dear son to Gerald Bates and his wife Janet Bates of Wilmington, MA, a dear brother to Jerry Bates of Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Cindy (Bates) Rusakovich of Sebago, Maine. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. We are so thankful for his cousin and best friend Susanne Cleveland of Marshfield, MA who traveled to South Carolina and brought Dwayne home.
