As Glenda departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Glenda may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Glenda leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her parents, James Durden and Myrtle Durden; her husband Jim; and her sisters, Cathey Conway and Patricia Brown.

She is survived by: her children, Sandra Elizabeth Smyly of Charleston, SC and James Smyly, Jr. (Saila Milja-Smyly) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, December 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Same West Ashley Chapel (3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, Charleston, SC 29414). A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Smyly Family Cemetery.
