He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Potts Pettus and Irene Crenshaw Dyer; his wife Marcia Pettus; and his half-brothers, Clifton Pettus and Tony Dyer.
He is survived by: his children, Edwin H. Pettus (Barbara) of Princeton and Coleen Strasburger (Gus) of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren, Sarah Pettus, Megan Ayscue (Spencer) and Lauren Cruz; his great grandchild Lydia Grace; his half-sisters, Anna Sue Duncan and Anne Bradford; his stepchildren, Jeff Noes and Shawn Noes; and his stepgrandchildren, Jay Noes and Kelly Sasser (David).
