He was predeceased by: his father Maynard J. Laporte. He is survived by: his wife Lillian Tarpley Laporte; his mother Margie Lafey Huggins Laporte; his daughters, Lisa Smith (Ken) of Charleston, Connie McCoy (Dennis) of Charleston and Crystal Herndon of Iowa; and his siblings, Darren Laporte (Camille) of Summerville, Cynthia Holliday (Andrew) of North Charleston and Valerie McGill (John) of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
