We announce the death of Lois Laney Porter of Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on October 2, 2026, at the age of 83. Lois will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Lois will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Lois will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Lois’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husband Robert Porter; her parents, Ira F. Laney and Gladys G. Laney; her grandchildren, Ashley and Michael; and her brothers, Stuart Laney and Bill Laney.
She is survived by: her children, Russell Porter, Kelley Windham (Shane) and Jill Johnson (Dan). She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Live Oak Memorial Gardens (3093 Ashley River Rd, Charleston, SC 29414).
