It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Luke Chapman of Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on June 5, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Mary Luke may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Mary Luke touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Luke and Elizabeth Luke; and her husband Eason Chapman, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, David Chapman (Mary) of Beaufort, SC, Katie Chapman Butka (David) of Charleston, SC and Adam Chapman (Tricia) of Austin, TX; her granddaughter Anna Chapman of Baton Rouge, LA; and her great grandchild Mary Elizabeth Strong.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McAlister-Smith Funeral Home (1520 Rifle Range Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464). A funeral service was held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Michael's Church (71 Broad St, Charleston, SC 29401). A burial was held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM at the Magnolia Cemetery (70 Cunnington St, Charleston, SC 29405).
