He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Thomas Atkinson and Louise Eugenia Wright Grainger; his wife Neva Johnson Atkinson; and his siblings, Leon Thomas Atkinson (Ricky), Eddie Arnold Atkinson, Myrtle Louise Tilly and Shelvey Jean Atkinson.
He is survived by: his goddaughter Tiffany Bowling of Dalton, GA; his son Scott; his daughter-in-law Dawn Atkinson of Virginia; his granddaughters, Cheyenne Atkinson of Charleston, SC and Rayne Atkinson of Charleston, SC.; and his siblings, Keith Wayne Atkinson (Charmin), Willie James Atkinson, Dickie Ray Atkinson (Annie), Ruby Lee Rhame, Alice Faye Thompson, Mark Johnson (Denise) of Murrells Inlet, SC and Keri Glover (Quinn) of Hollywood, FL.. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
