It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia Capps Mitchum in Charleston, South Carolina, who passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Sylvia may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Earl Capps and Doris Veeda Dawsey; and her son Thaddeus Mitchum II (Tab). She is survived by: her husband Thaddeus Mitchum (Thad); her daughter Renee'Mitchum-Foulis (Steven); and her grandchildren, Alex Hamilton (Tammy) and Hailey Mitchum. She is also survived by family filled with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
