He was predeceased by: his son Sherman Anthony "Tony" Johnson; and his grandchildren, Joshua Todd Jacobs, Brandon Johnson and Leslie Ann Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Dove Johnson; his children, Mitchell W. Johnson (Lisa) of Chester, Randall K. Johnson of Chester, Sharon Ledbetter (Mark) of Chester, Karen J. Wright (Donnie) of Chester, Tammie J. Jacobs (Todd) of Chester and Sherry Crane (Charles) of Prattsville, Alabama.; and his grandchildren, Joy, Heather, Willow, Mary, Whitney, Melissa, Christopher, Ben, Chandler, Mitchell Johnson, Candi, Donnie Wright Jr., Crystal McCarty, Christy Gheen, Beth Church, Amber Jacobs, Hope, Chip Crane, Randall and Justin Marsh.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Life Church of God (716 Lowrys Hwy, Chester, SC 29706).
