He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Floyd Byars; his wife Bonnie; his children, Ralph, Jr. Byars (Jamie) of Florence, SC and Connie Bagley (Karl) of Chester, SC; his siblings, Wayne Byars (Evelyn) of Chester, SC and Linda Ivey (Russel) of Blackstock, SC; his grandchildren, Brice, Cassidy Byars, Marlee Vancil, Jacob Wade, Morgan Byars, Tristan Bagley and Lillie Bagley; his adoptive parents, Gavin, Braden, Nathan Baucan, Sam and Grace Baucen of Roebuck, SC; his in-laws, Calvin, Cathy Reynolds, Judy Adkins, Roy and Shirley Reynolds; and his brother Floyd William Byars. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
