With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Weldon Akins Jr. of Chester, South Carolina, who passed away on June 29, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Weldon Akins, Sr. and Marie Louise Warlick Brown (James Sexton Brown, Sr.); his sister Louise Collins (Richard); and his brother-in-law Robbie McKay. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Ann Massey Akins; his children, Angela "Angie" Marie Akins Keels and William "Billy" Clyde Keels, Jr.; his grandchildren, William "Trey" Clyde Keels, III and Alexandra "Allie" Akins Keels; and his siblings, Wanda Elizabeth Akins Love (Doug), Martha Diane Varnadore (Tommy), Cathy Brown McKay, James "Sumter" Sexton Brown, Jr. and Sumter McDonald Brown (Vickie). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Sunday, July 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Purity Presbyterian Church (135 Wylie St, Chester, SC 29706).
