He was predeceased by: his parents, Bebe Jerome and Mary Jane Taylor Morton; his close friend Joe Ann Thomas; his son Billy Morton (Faye); his son-in-law Scott Thomas; and his siblings, Jimmy Lee Morton, Mary Helen "Nick" Mills, Elizabeth and Watson.
He is survived by: his children, Joann Groves (John), Bobby "Buck" Morton (Sherry), Robin Hunt (Fuller), Angela Baker (Roy), Maria Thomas, Susan Preslar and Tammy Britt (Tim); his siblings, Vance Morton (Linda Rose), Linda Hurst, Samp Morton, Brenda Shaw (Tommy), B. J. Morton (Judy) and Janice Morton; and his sister-in-law Lexie Morton. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home (318 E Main St, Chesterfield, SC 29709). A burial was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 at the Of God Cemetery.
