He was predeceased by: his parents, Emsley A. Laney, Sr. and Katherine Redfern Laney; his wife Lois Magnuson Laney; his brother Neill Laney; and his grandson Matthew Szabo.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Snow (Charles) of Charlotte, NC, Emsley A. Laney, III (Kathy), North and Laura Szabo (Steve) of Greenville, SC; his grandchildren, Caroline Snow, Andrew Snow (Kalyn), Holly Dooley (Brennan), Graham Chrisley, Austin Chrisley, Ashlyn Laney, Emily Szabo and Shannon Szabo; his great grandchildren, Jack Dooley, Logan Dooley, Emsley Snow, Lily Snow and Connor Dooley; his brother Tom Laney (Amy) of Wilmington, NC; his sister-in-law Pat Laney of Wilmington, NC; and his caregiver Lessie Smith.
