He was predeceased by: his parents, John David and Gennie James Hancock; the mother of his child Gail Hancock; his aunt Elizabeth "Lib" Wallace; and his uncle Jadie S. James.
He is survived by: his son David Carlton Hancock, Sr. (Aimee) of Cheraw, SC; his grandchildren, David Hancock, Jr., Jessie Hancock (Kayla), David Clark and Elizabeth Hancock; his great grandchildren, Cayden Reid Hancock and Brantley Lane Baker; his brother Martin Hancock (Barbara) of Cheraw, SC; his nieces, Paige Coates and Kelly Wallace; his great-nieces, Beth Coates, Marlee Coates and Kayla Wallace; his granddaughter April Fowler; and his close friend Mary Rose Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
