He was predeceased by: his father Sonny Mullis; and his brother Jimmy Mullis. He is survived by: his mother Peggy Crowley Mullis of Kannapolis, NC; his wife Melissa Mullis; his son Richard Mullis, Jr. (Kristie) of Concord, NC; his grandchildren, John Talbert, Allen Talbert, Megan Mullis, Christina Mullis and Natasha Mullis; and his sister Linda Lowder (Dwight) of Kannapolis, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
