He was predeceased by: his parents, Broadus Edwin and Annie Simmons Smith. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Markie" Irwin Smith; and his sons, Jeff Peoples (Paige) of Hanceville, AL, Rocky Nelson (Sherry) of Summerville, SC, Tim Nelson (Stacey) of Cummins, GA and Mark Peoples (Jennifer) of Clinton, SC.. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Broad Street United Methodist Church (310 N Broad St, Clinton, SC 29325). Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broad Street United Methodist Church, 310 North Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325.
