He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah B. Boney; his daughter Helen Louise Boney; his parents, John D. Boney, Sr. and Dorothy Rawl Boney; and his sister Nancy Dorothy Lee.
He is survived by: his children, Durham Boney (Sandi) of Columbia, SC, Tiffaney Threatt (Jerre) of Clinton, SC and Walter Boney (Amy) of Barnwell, SC; his grandchildren, Anna Grace Boney, Matthew Boney, Brooks Threatt, Kaitey Threatt, Mason Boney and Noland Boney; his sister Florence Scarborough of Flat Rock, NC; Sandra Pherigo of West Columbia, Portia Gunnells (Bill) of Columbia, Monnene Sorrell (Larry) of Columbia, Beth Estes (George) of Columbia and Thomas Barber (Pam) of Newberry. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
