He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Gillespie and Mollye Gillespie; and his sister Margaret G. Morrison. He is survived by: his wife Sarah C. Gillespie; his brother-in-law Calhoun, Jr. (Rhetta) of Clio, SC; and his nieces and nephews, Davis Calhoun (Julie) of Clio, SC, Gare Calhoun (Erin Davis) of Solon, IA, Teresa Mullens of Sautee Nacoochee, GA and Rebecca Morrison of Durham, NC..
