She was predeceased by : her parents, Marvin "Elroy" Dishon and Helen "Blanche" Carpenter Dishon; her brother Terry Wayne Dishon; and her father-in-law Jonathan "Jack" Van Curen. She is survived by : her husband Jon Van Curen. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bower Funeral Chapel (1631 Bob White Blvd, Pulaski, VA 24301). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Bower Funeral Home (1631 Bob White Blvd, Pulaski, VA 24301).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks per Karen's wish, that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
