She was predeceased by: her parents, Marvin "Elroy" Dishon and Helen "Blanche" Carpenter Dishon; her brother Terry Wayne Dishon; and her father-in-law Jonathan "Jack" Van Curen. She is survived by: her husband Jon Van Curen. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks per Karen's wish, that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
