It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marlene Slayter of Clover, South Carolina, born in Kilbourne, Louisiana, who passed away on December 7, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Soloman Franklin Varner and Bertie Mae Harper Varner; her husband James Morrow Herndon, Jr.; her brother B. F. Varner; her brother-in-law Noble Shaw; and her pets, Mollye Mae and Buddy Boy.
She is survived by: her son Brent Slayter; her stepsons, Dr. Jeffrey Charles Herndon (Cindy) and James "Jimmy" Morrow Herndon III (Danielle); her daughter Monesa Thompson (Randy); her brother Charles Varner (Jo); her sisters-in-law, June Varner and Sybil Shaw; her grandchildren, Ariana Herndon, Jacob Herndon, Tanner Herndon, Mya Herndon, Talya Herndon, Lemanda Slayter, Danielle Baker, Bobby Dean Baker III and Lauren Evans Carrigan; her great grandchildren, Raven Belknap, Alex Belknap, Oliver Belknap, Madisyn Pelletier, Brayleigh Tanner and Owen Baker; and her friends, Susan Briggs and Sandra Evans. She is also survived by four nieces; three nephews.
