He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Clenard Whitaker and Joyce McNair Whitaker. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Oxendine Whitaker; his children, Ricky Ray Whitaker (Linda Marie), Travis Anthony Whitaker and Christy Taylor Renee Whitaker; his sister Bonnie Cloninger; and his grandson James Alexander Whitaker.
