He was predeceased by: his parents, Murphy Aughtry Bowers and Hettie Maude Taylor Bowers; and his siblings, Louis Bowers, Julia Shealy, Sparta Mea Boozer, Doris Dawkins and Bonnie Wicker.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Hurt Bowers; his children, Deirdre Yvonne Bowers Troxel (Michael) of Summerville and Kirk Branderis Bowers of Summerville; and his grandchildren, Branderis Troxel, Louis Troxel, Wilson Troxel, Jordan Troxel and Gracen Troxel.
