He was predeceased by: his parents, Curtis Everett Coleman and Mamie Ford Coleman; his parents-in-law, Walton Douglas Carroll and Leila Margaret Dreher Carroll; and his siblings-in-law, Walton Douglas Carroll, Jr. and Margaret "Peggy" Dreher Carroll Wilkinson.

He is survived by: his wife Frances Carroll Coleman of Virginia; his son Curtis "Rett" Everett Coleman, III; his daughter-in-law Jessica "Jessie" Marzie Abney Coleman; his grandchildren, Marzie Leila, Everett Banks and Evelyn Blaire of Aiken, SC; his son Richard Austin Coleman; his sisters, Catherine "Cathy" Coleman Knox and Carolyn Coleman Thomas of Columbia, SC; his siblings-in-law, Jerolyn Bruce Long Carroll of Savannah, GA and Jerry Franklin Wilkinson of Albany, NY; and also, Michelle Krause Coleman, Margaret "Maggie" Reese of Charlotte, NC and Marion "Lex" Alexander Knox, Jr. of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Carolina Wildlife Center or Shandon Methodist Church.
