He is survived by: his wife Joan Endrina Bates; his stepson Ryan James Endrina; and his siblings, Clyde Anderson "Andy" Bates, III (Karen) of Blythewood, Beth Ford Scott (Rod) of Lexington, SC and William Edward Bates (Juliet) of Columbia. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
