He was predeceased by: his father Robert A. Hammett; and his wife Avra Callie Brannon Hammett. He is survived by: his mother Barbara B. Hammett; his brother Bobby Hammett (Evan); his daughters, Caraway Ann Hammett and Carlysle Gettys Hammett; his niece Eliza Hall; and his nephew Robert Hammett.

“Dr. Hammett changed SO many lives for the better. He gave me, and at least four of my friends, their lives back after prolonged suffering from chronic migraine and pain. He believed us and was there for us to give us a way to take care of our children and resume our lives. He loved Avra and his 2 daughters so much. We walked with them through the fertile journey together and he made us able to function enough to expand our family. He was kind, thoughtful, empathetic, reassuring, brave, brilliant”
