He was predeceased by: his parents, Raiford Pate and Rebecca Pate. He is survived by: his significant other Carol Herrington; and his children, Brian (Christa), Jennifer, Melissa (Dwight), John (Abbie), Rachel (Daniel), Stephen (Sarah) and Josh (Katie). He is also survived by twenty grandchildren.
