She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Ward Hendricks and Ernestine Cranfill Hendricks; her husband John William Ballard; her siblings, James D. "Jim" Hendricks of Columbia and Carol E. Patterson; and her children, William Michael Ballard, John Michael Ballard and Rebecca Sue Gardner.
She is survived by: her niece Christy Hendricks Carter (Ryker) of St. Simons Island, GA; her sister-in-law Fran Hendricks; and her niece Michele Hicks of Columbia. She is also survived by many grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel (7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia, SC 29223).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Army Emergency Relief (AER) in memory of her beloved husband, John William Ballard, a proud U.S. Army Veteran.
