It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Byrd of Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on May 5, 2026, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alex Chavis and Lillian Chavis (Goins); and her children, Dennis and Dorothy Hollis (Gary). She is survived by: her siblings, Jimmy, Johnny Chavis (Lynne), Elva Wilson and Jeanette Foster; and her children, Reese Byrd (Ann), Larry Byrd (Sandra) and LaMonika Davis (Phil). She is also survived by nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made either Elmwood Church of God, or East Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church.
