Ellus B. Burns Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ellus B. Burns of Columbia, South Carolina, who passed away on August 8, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellus Graham Burns and Nancy Vaughn Burns; and his sister Beth Jacobs. He is survived by: his wife Kay Pickell Burns; his daughter Kimberley Betz (John); his grandchildren, Jordan Hauptner (Jake), Jack Betz and Kalvin Betz; his great grandchild Cameron Kay Hauptner of Columbus, Ohio.; and his sisters, Patricia Stidom (Tom) and Robin Scott. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 525 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29210, and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
