We are sad to announce that on September 29, 2025, at the age of 92, Ernest Lee Koty Jr. (Columbia, South Carolina) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Koty and Marie Royster Koty; his wife Libby; and his son-in-law Bill Sease. He is survived by: his children, Marylee Koty Sease and Ernest "Dow" Koty (Suzanne); his granddaughters, Mary Ann Koty House (Brad), Rachel Diane Sease and Lucy Elizabeth Sease Edwards "Liza" (Zack); his great grandchildren, Jackson Lee Sease, Thomas Lee Koty, Brooks Edwards, Julian Edwards and Olivia Edwards; and his nephews, Jimmy, Bill, George and Andy Walker.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery (2603 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC 29204).
His remarkable contributions to sports earned him the South Carolina High School Coach of the Year award multiple times, reflecting his commitment to instilling discipline, teamwork, and enthusiasm for excellence in all who crossed his path.
