He is survived by: his wife Mary Beth; his children, Renee Herndon (Tom) and Eric Dantzler (Chastity); his grandchildren, Andrew Herndon, Heath Dantzler and Madison Dantzler; and his siblings, Judy Strange and Mike Dantzler. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Dunbar Funeral Home (3926 Devine St, Columbia, SC 29205). A graveside service was held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
