He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Thacker and Arthurine Thacker; his wife Dorothy; his brother Tommy G. Thacker of Commander, USN; and his children, Nancy L. Felder and Gregory C. Jones (Jill).
He is survived by: his children, Beverly D. Jones of Spartanburg and Heather T. Collins (Gene Ling) of Columbia; his grandchildren, Addison Smalley (Tyler) of Lexington, John "Buddy" Collins of Columbia, Abby Herrington of Savannah, Kelly Garrett (Doug), Lindsay Brabham (Dylan) of Hampton and Alex Jones of Columbia; and his great grandchildren, Penny, Sophie, Cooper, Luke Herrington, Lauren, Hunter Garrett, Walker Brabham and Harrison "Harry" Smalley.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to the Tega Cay Lion's Club and Foundation at 15087 Molokai Drive, Tega Cay, SC 29708.
