Janie Louise (Bruner) King Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Janie Bruner King on April 18, 2025, at age 75. Born on March 23, 1950, Janie lived a life marked by kindness, devotion and an unwavering love for family and friends.
A 1968 Williams High School graduate, she attended High Point Nursing School and later graduated from Technical Institute of Alamance with a business degree. She held various administrative positions including Seaboard Insurance, Western Electric, and Biomedical Laboratories. She later worked as a home caregiver (her favorite job) touching the lives of many with her warmth and dedication.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Opal Bruner, and her beloved son, Jason D. Wood. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Kelley Wood Herndon (Ron) of Columbia, SC; her loving sisters, Peggy Bruner Fogleman (Harold) and Linda Bruner; three grandchildren, Avery Herndon, Ramsey Herndon, Hannah Parnell; one great-grandson, Brennan Bell; three nieces, their spouses, great-nieces and nephews.
Janie was a devoted mother and grandmother; she enjoyed arts and crafts and had a deep affection for animals. She was also very thoughtful, remembering friends and loved one's special occasions with a card. or a small gift. In 2022 Janie moved to Columbia, SC to be closer to Kelley settling into NHC Parklane Skilled Nursing.
Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of NHC Parklane, staff in ICU at MUSC-Providence, and MUSC Hospice for their loving care.
A short Memorial Service will be held at Macedonia Lutheran Church, 421 W. Front Street, Burlington, NC. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by
the Celebration of Janie's Life at 11 a.m.
