He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Heckman and Cecilia Niehaus Heckman; his son John Kevin Heckman; his cousins, Mary Agnes Masterson, Philip Masterson, Bill Flynn and Anna Lea Wyatt; and his sister-in-law Carmen Valdivia.

He is survived by: his wife Martha Heckman; his daughter Genevieve Heckman Nauhaus (Ian Nauhaus); and his grandchildren, Theo Nauhaus and Mae Nauhaus.

The family requests memorials be made to the Carnation Foundation Patient Fund in honor of Dr. Heckman.
