He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alfred and Mattie Mae Porter Tobias; his brother Wesley Tobias; and his brothers-in-law, Bobby Best and Jimmy Bagley.

He is survived by: his siblings, Virginia Best of Coward, Linda T. Miles (Billy) of Lexington, Terry R. Tobias (Susan) of Gilbert, Brenda Charlene Tobias of West Columbia, Susan Clarice Anderson (Sam) of Gaston and Sandra D. Bagley of Pelion; and his sister-in-law Lisa Tobias of Gaston. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
